I only count a game as LAN party material if you can host your own local server. No trying to funnel several connections through a single residential broadband, and no unknowns popping into your game that aren't physically present. So here's my list. And the graphics? - Star Wars: Jedi Academy. Light sabers.
Force powers. Oh yeah, there's guns, too. Battlefield in all its variations is great IF you have at least 8 - 10 gamers. Nothing like some classic artillary.
FarCry is pretty, and good, and pretty good. I miss MechWarrior, wish a new version would come out targeting today's technology featuring quality LAN play. Not sure about LAN play but I hear it is very good. COD 4 definitely, used to play Battlefield 2 and was saved by the fairness of COD 4. Lol used to get 5 kills for 20 deaths on B2 and on COD 4 found it much much fairer and get about equal kills to equal deaths, perhaps sometimes slightly more kills than deaths. Command and conquer could be a worthy rts multiplayer game worth noting. AVP looks rubbish, sorry for being offensive i mean it looks very unfair because of the different races, stupid predators - predators eat their food not use weapons to kill things therefore they should be called hunters, and it looks like it has that crappy battlefield 2 like pound your enemies. 'I shoot you in the back and you turn round and kill me after i've wasted a whole magazine accurately on you'.
Crysis is bad online to, it's a good single player game but people keep moving around too much shooting excessively at each other getting no where, on COD 4 there has never been a time that i have felt that i have been unfairly treated by the game; all the time i get shot i feel that the player who got me deserved that shot completely. I don't usually tend to like games that seem very popular i like to stick to those games that remain in the background like Turok (the new one) but COD 4 and COD 2 were definitely the greatest games that i bought for multiplayer and single player. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is equally as awesome, it's an indoor shooter though and like COD it's impressive that you can kill efficiently and quickly. What is that game like?
Insanely fun, amazing. Imagine flying sky high with a jetpack at 200mph only to 'ski' down a hill and fly up the next one after that at 300 mph? All the while carrying the enemies flag being chased by someone shooting flying discs at you only to land on the hill in the perfect spot to soar ahead of the pursuer at 400mph to jetpack halway aross the map for a flag cap.

EVE Online All players on one server and essentially one person's actions can resonate throughout the entire server. Diablo II A game made around 1999/2000 still going on strong, what more can you ask for? World of Warcraft 11 million subscribers, no doubt that it should be in here at least. Team Fortress 2 Incredibly balanced FPS with top notch competitive community. Counterstrike Long standing FPS game within the FPS community. Warcraft 3 Almost unimaginable amounts of custom maps, and more specifically DotA found it's audience here.
Starcraft Does anything need to be said here? Lol battlefield above cod 4 lmao. Battlefield feels good, it's just that croshair error that spoils it you see. Bad company 1 & 2 don't have that problem BF2 has been around longer, and is still quite popular.
I only put them in that order because CoD4 has not been played for as long. Not to mention, there is a much better competitive aspect of the Battlefield series because they are a team game, where you rely on your teammates for support, instead of just the run and gun nature of Call of Duty. So in terms of multiplayer, BF2 surpasses CoD4 due to its longevity and more team oriented gameplay. Actually battlefield 2 is alright, been playing on it recently. Just need to take time to adjust to the croshair.

The croshair needs time for it to adjust itself properly to shoot acuratelyi noticed, there's not really any recoil so you can't tell why your shots are missing. Machine gun though is bad for shooting at long distances though, this makes it realistic, but opens the game up to unfairness as it bases itself more on luck. Had some go on single player and got better so going back online on the game lol. I prefer it as a first person shooter though, and the vehicles have become boring.

I still feel COD 4 is better, although i do admit i used to prefer battlefield 2 because of it's exitement with vehicles and explosions, i bought the game instead of COD 4 lol, buth have both games now.
