It has NEVER been connected to the internet in it's entire life. I download programs (such as Pipemax) on my everyday workhorse Linux machine, that has run for years on the internet and never had a single problem. I burn a CD, and then run that CD on my Laptop so it can run Pipemax under genuine Windows XP.
A bit messy, but it always works great, is totally reliable, and is completely hazard free. My problems all disappeared when I stopped using Windows and Internet Explorer on the internet. Another thing I do is have a second hard drive with Linux and Firefox installed that I use exclusively for financial transactions over the internet, and nothing else.
